This Privacy Policy explains how Digital Paradise Systems LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Space Elevator mobile app, our web app at spaceelevator.app, and the Zero-G guest photo-sharing experience (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name from your chosen sign-in provider — Google, Apple, or Microsoft. We use Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to manage sign-in; we do not create or store a password ourselves — authentication is handled entirely by your chosen provider. You may optionally upload a profile photo, which is stored the same way as other media you upload (see Section 2.2).
2.2 Photos and Videos
Photos and videos you upload through the Service are stored using third-party cloud storage infrastructure (currently Backblaze B2) located in the United States. We don’t operate these servers ourselves, but we control access to your content and configure this infrastructure to keep it private and secure. Uploaded files may contain embedded metadata (such as EXIF data), which can include the date, time, and location coordinates recorded by your camera at the time of capture. We do not strip this metadata.
Every uploaded photo and video is automatically screened for known child sexual abuse material before being made available in the Service — see Section 4 for details.
2.3 Location Information
We collect and store location information in a few distinct ways:
- Geofenced collections and Auto-Switch. If you or a collection owner set up a location-based collection restriction, or you enable Auto-Switch, the geographic coordinates and radius you define are sent to and stored on our servers, so the feature works consistently across your devices. Your device also uses this location on-device to detect when you enter or leave the defined area.
- Photo metadata. As described in Section 2.2, GPS coordinates embedded in a photo’s EXIF data are stored on our servers as part of that photo’s metadata.
- Approximate location from IP address. We determine an approximate location (such as country, region, or city) from your IP address using a locally-maintained geolocation database. This is used for account security and internal analytics and is not shared with third parties.
We do not track a continuous history of your precise device location, and we do not use location data for advertising.

We use Firebase Analytics (a Google service) and our own server logs to understand how the Service is used — for example, which features are used, app crashes and errors, device type, and operating system version. This helps us fix bugs, improve the Service, and prioritize new features. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not use third-party advertising SDKs or ad networks.
2.5 Event Guest Information (Zero-G)
Zero-G lets a collection owner (“host”) invite guests — who do not need a Space Elevator account — to take and upload photos to an event collection from their phone’s web browser, typically by scanning a QR code. When a guest uses Zero-G:
- We assign the guest’s device a random identifier so their photos and registration status are remembered on that device.
- Guests may optionally provide a name and email address (“sign the guest book”). This step can always be skipped, and guests are never required to provide this information to take or upload photos.
- Photos and videos a guest uploads are stored and moderated the same way as any other upload (see Sections 2.2 and 4), and are visible to the host and, if the host allows it, to other guests at the same event.
Zero-G does not verify the age of guests. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided a name or email address through Zero-G without your consent, please contact us using the details in Section 11 and we will delete it.

4. Content Moderation and Child Safety
We are committed to keeping Space Elevator free of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Every photo and video uploaded to the Service — including Zero-G guest uploads and file attachments to support tickets — is automatically scanned using Microsoft’s PhotoDNA service, an industry-standard hash-matching technology used broadly across the technology industry. This automated scan checks uploaded content against a database of known CSAM; it does not involve a person reviewing your photos as part of routine scanning.
If content is flagged as a match:
- It is immediately removed from general circulation and moved to a restricted, access-controlled storage area.
- It is reviewed by our safety team.
- Confirmed matches are reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, as required by law, and may be shared with law enforcement.
We may suspend or terminate accounts in connection with a confirmed violation.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With your explicit consent — for example, when you share a collection with another user, make a collection public, or invite guests via Zero-G.
- With service providers who help us operate the Service, under obligations to protect your data:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and app usage analytics
- Backblaze B2 — photo, video, and file storage
- Microsoft PhotoDNA — child-safety content scanning (see Section 4)
- Anthropic — if you enable AI-assisted support, the content of your support tickets is sent to Anthropic’s API to help generate suggested responses
- Stripe — payment processing for purchases made on the web; Apple and Google process payments made through their respective apps
- With the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement, when required by law or in response to a confirmed child-safety violation (see Section 4)
- If required by law, valid court order, or other legal process
- To protect the rights, safety, or property of Digital Paradise Systems LLC or others, where legally permitted
Public collections and Zero-G event galleries are, by design, visible to anyone with the link — please consider this before marking a collection Public or sharing a Zero-G link widely.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and uploaded media for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or delete individual photos, we remove them from active storage right away and permanently purge them from backups and version history within 30 days. Content flagged as a confirmed child-safety violation is retained for longer, as required for legal compliance and law enforcement referral (see Section 4).
7. Your Rights and Choices

8. Children’s Privacy
Space Elevator is not directed at children under 13, and creating a Space Elevator account requires signing in with a Google, Apple, or Microsoft account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through account registration.
Zero-G, our guest photo-sharing feature, does not require an account and does not verify a guest’s age (see Section 2.5). If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information — such as a name or email address — through Zero-G, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest, secure authentication through trusted third-party identity providers, and restricted access to production systems. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email before changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
